Much of UX on the Web focuses on the experiences users have in their day-to-day interactions with your website or web application. Unfortunately this same thoughtful approach to UX is missing from the customer acquisition flow.
The UX/design budget for banners and landing pages is typically cut (if it existed at all in the first place), with the majority of the budget going instead toward ad spend. This practice is shortsighted and hurting your campaign performance.

I love design and UX issues. However, the key thing most businesses are missing – to me – appears to be a compelling offer. Spending time figuring out how to BE better than their competition and PROVE it are steps 1 and 2. Then, COMMUNICATING it via design like you do is easy
I love the general principles of this, and am curious as to how this type of design works when promoting a service business.
One of my companies is currently about to commence a website redesign, but it’s for a marketing company in a vertical market – we’ve been paying a lot of attention to best practise in site design, but feel as if we’re better off getting someone else to do the heavy lifting.
Given that we’re not (in the immediate period) going to be focused on the sale of subscriptions or products, do you consider a product like impress is going to help? Or are we better off waiting until we have well-defined products for purchase and developing a microsite such as this for the specific purpose of making those sales?
We’ve already looked at implementing both slidedeck and the hello bar in the new site design, but this might well be a way to cut the Giordian knot.
Yes first impression is always important. The design should be in such a way that it makes user to stay and discover more.
