OfficeZilla came online in 2002, before Basecamp. Personally I had not heard of Basecamp until it was in my referral logs from someone's post on the Basecamp support forum. If I wanted to copy someone it would be Salesforce. All hail Salesforce, 1 billion in revenue in the last year, nice.

A rather disappointing list of Project Management apps, i have to say. You even missed out ProjectPier (which i believe Project2Manage is actually derived from, interestingly enough).

Oh well, i guess it's better than nothing. :)

Great post! Perfect timing as I am just trying to source other options to basecamp as well. We came across project2manage.com, pretty basic, very much the same sort of thing though. We also looked at Active Collab. I'll certainly be trolling through your list though. Cheers!

We'll they haven't upgraded their software long enough, and this in fact made me turn to Wrike. Actually, I wouldn't say that it's a Basecamp clone, it works smart with your e-mail and make it easy for you to manage projects with its help.
