The numbers are in and the results are record shattering! Cyber Monday was up 21% over last year racking in a whopping $733 million worth of online retailer spending. A lot of people predicted the spending on Cyber Monday to be significant, but I don’t think most analysts expected the numbers to be this high. Amazon and Walmart ranked in as the top two visited online retailers for this year’s Cyber Monday.
“Cyber Monday once again set a record with $733 million in sales, the first time a single day of online retail spending has broken the $700 million threshold.” said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.
In my opinion I am extremely excited to see that online spending is continously increasing. I have been purchasing music, clothes, contact lenses, furniture, and dog meds for years and I’m stoked to see more and more people using the web to their convenience and advantage. I see online buying exponentially increasing as time goes on and I only imagine Cyber Monday 2008 to be record breaking again in percent of sales growth and number of visitors making purchases.
