Spam Lacks the Love

Telepathy

We’ve seen a recent increase in spam over the last few months which has been really no more than a mild nuisance to everyone here. But between my work email address, work email aliases and my personal email accounts with Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail I get my fair share of email and even more spam.

As I was scanning through the messages looking for real mail that got snagged today I realized that in the hundred plus spam emails not one had to do with the days event. Today being Valentine’s Day I thought a few messages would try to lure me in with some spammy Valentine message. Oddly there were none and I got to thinking does spam ever have any relevance to the real world and time or is completely random? If I wanted to send out spam and get it read by people I’d make my messages more timely instead of the constant barrage of prescription drugs, cheap software, free offers and exiled people from tumultuous third world countries in need of money.

And after all – wouldn’t it be nice for one day (if you are going to be spammed, as 99% of the email population is) that they at least want to be my Valentine?
